Accessibility statement

DryTime are keen on making this web application usable to as wide an audience as possible. This can be challenging, but we are working towards it.

Measures to support accessibility

We take the following measures to ensure accessibility of DryTime:

  • Include accessibility as part of our ethos.
  • Integrate accessibility into our design practices.
  • Use responsive reflowing design, graceful enhancement and separation of concerns where possible to allow freedom for users' interaction methods.

Conformance

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

DryTime aims to become fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. It is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA, meaning that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of DryTime. Please let us know if you encounter accessibility barriers.

We try to respond to feedback within 5 business days.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

DryTime is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • All modern operating systems and browsers
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Screenreaders

DryTime is unlikely to be compatible with:

  • Older browsers not supporting modern standards

Technical specifications

Accessibility of DryTime relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML5
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • Javascript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of DryTime, there may be some limitations. Below is a non-exhaustive list of known limitations. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below:

  • Icons: Icons are not universally recognised. For example, we are yet to find a truly globally accepted icon for "yes". We are steadily researching best practice to aid intuitive understanding of the interface for the widest audience.
  • Visual screenwidths less than 320 pixels: We test down to 320 pixels wide for visual mobile users; below that, interface elements may overlap or become harder to interact with.
  • Font size increase greater than 300%: Increasing font size greater than 300% can cause overlaps within the interface at narrower screensizes, we simply run out of screen real-estate.
  • Multilingual translations: Whilst we offer a multilingual forecast time format with icon indicators, we are not in a position to translate wording. We are researching the most intuitive way to present global alternatives to icons for screenreaders.

Assessment approach

We assessed the accessibility of DryTime by the following approaches:

  • Self-evaluation
  • Automated testing tools
  • Human code assessment against WCAG guidelines

With current resources we are unable to do comprehensive tests across all assistive technologies.
